Welcome to the St Lucie Sailing Club
Ours is a sailing club of sailing and boating enthusiasts. We do not own a clubhouse nor a marina, so our costs are quite reasonable. The boats in the club range from small day sailors and racers to 50 foot cruisers and multihulls. Yet it does not matter if you own a boat or not. Many of our members do not own boats and routinely serve as crew members on other people’s boats.
We meet once a month – normally the first Monday of the month at the Palm City Recreation Center If that happens to be a holiday, the meeting is cancelled and we normally have a social event early that month. We also have formal races and cruises about eight times a year as well as beer can races 3 Saturdays each month.

July 2018 Newsletter - July was kind of a frustrating month for sailing. Lots of heat and not a lot of wind. But being resourceful sailors, we trim our sails and carry on. Our race captain, Mike Brescher, has rescheduled our beer can start times from noon until 5 PM to beat the heat and maybe find more breeze. Sunsets are an added bonus. We had a nice turnout for our S&M at Twisted Tuna, though. Maybe the AC had something to do with that. As usual everyone had a great time.
August is shaping up to be an exciting month with the Dog Days Regatta and a pool party in the works. That should cool us off ! Details elsewhere in this Log and at our meeting on August 6th. Speaking of the meeting, our program this month features our intrepid adventurers, the crews of Sailsman and Layla, showing us photos and video of their experiences racing in the Abacos. Promises to make for an entertaining evening.
A little further down the road, the SLSC will be helping out in Keep Martin Beautiful’s annual beach cleanup on September 15th. We plan to tackle cleaning the beach at Peck’s Lake. We’ll combine this community service with some fun by incorporating a Peck Lake raft-up. Details at the August meeting. Save the date. Meanwhile, let’s have fun on the water.
