Turkey Trot Sailing Instructions Modified Minimize

Hello all,

The SLSC Ladies Turkey Trot Regatta will be held this Saturday, 11/19.11 as scheduled.  There are two changes to the published Sailing Instructions.

1.) Latitudes will be the Committee Boat for our regatta. She will be on station in the vicinity of Coconut Point flying the club Burgee and race committee flag.  The course will be displayed on the course board on the transom prior to the starting sequence.

2.) The race committee, Latitudes, will be utilizing VHF 71 to coordinate the SLSC race.  The Catalina 22 fleet will be on channel 72 and racing in the Middle Fork of the St. Lucie River on Saturday.

Everyone, racers and non-racers alike, are encouraged to meet at the Deck Restaurant after the race for awards, cocktails, and dinner.

On Sunday, the race Committee of the Catalina Fleet will be providing a racing opportunity for men or women of the SLSC Fleet, details are below.

SLSC online Skippers Briefing for Sunday, 20Nov2011

1) The Racing Area is the Middle Fork St Lucie River (Area D)

2) The first warning will be at 0925. I expect to start the SLSC boats first as I understand your fleet will be mostly boats faster than the Catalina 22. If there are too few SLSC boats to start at 0925, I will start the Cat22s instead and start the SLSC boats that arrive after the Cat22s finish, probably 30-45 min later.

3) this is a Catalina 22 regatta. The SLSC boats are being given separate courtesy starts and racing on the Catalina 22 course. I hope the SLSC boats will return the courtesy and avoid any interference WHATSOEVER with racing Catalina 22s.

4) All boats must check in at the Signal boat displaying code flag "L" before the first warning at 0925 and check out with RC if leaving before the end of racing for the day. Any known changes to the Sailing Instructions may be hailed at that time.

5) The race course is attached to the Catalina 22 Sailing Instructions. It will also be used for all SLSC starts without modification. Briefly, it is W/L finishing downwind through the finish line established on the starboard side of the Signal boat. There are three iterations, W1, W2, W3 where the number 1,2 or 3 represents the number of windward legs. Observe marks per the Cat22 SI course attachment. The course to be used for the next race will be posted on the signal boat and may be hailed.

6) OCS boats will be notified according to RRS. I may also hail the last three numerals of the sail number( unless fewer on the sail) and may announce on VHF CH 72. Failure to hear hails or VHF do not effect the OCS status. If you are over early, you are OCS and failure to restart will result in being scored OCS. There will be no multiple general recalls. You can expect a progression from "P" to "Black" in short order.

7) Please stay clear of the start line when not starting or finishing but remain within hail so as to be available for information and sequence start.

Good Racing and have fun, JW,PRO
